The March meeting will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29th at Case Woodworking Supply, 1725 Grove Point Road, Savannah, GA. Our demonstrator will be Al Medlock from Vidalia, GA. Al owns and operates Oggie’s Originals from which he sells his original woodcarvings, paintings and woodturnings. March’s demo is certain to be a unique and a very interesting experience.
Our next meeting on Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00pm will be at the Georgia State Railroad Museum (Railroad Roundhouse property), 303 ML King Blvd, Savannah. Fran DiTommaso is the featured demonstrator. The Museum property is quite large. The demo will be on the first floor of the Museum’s office building which is located at the southeastern most corner of the property. If you park in the visitor’s parking lot, then you will have about a 100 yard walk to the building. If you prefer, you can park on West Jones Street near the intersection of Purse Street. The Museum’s office building is right at that corner. You will pass through the iron gates about 20 feet from the intersection then about 25 feet to your left is the entrance to the ground floor meeting space. The Coastal Rail Buffs (model railroaders) have a permanent model railroad on display on the Museum property. You may want to come a little early to walk around.
Our next demonstration meeting will be FRIDAY, January 26th, 6:00 p.m. at the White Bluff Campus of SAVANNAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE, 5717 White Bluff Road, Savannah 31405. Steve Cook will be demonstrating architectural turning, including basic spindle turning and candle sticks.
Roy Yarger and Lonnie Bott will be the featured demonstrators. Both have many years of experience turning both simple and complex projects. October’s demo will focus on simple, but very nicely executed, gift type items.
There will also be a raffle for a Nick Cook parting tool that was generously donated by Chace Holloway of Case Woodworking Supply.
The meeting will be held at 6pm on Thursday, October 26 at Case Woodturning Supply in Savannah. The meeting is free and open to the public.
This month’s meeting will follow a special format. Rather than having one demonstrator, we will have several members of differing ability working on turning one bowl. The goal is to solve common turning problems as they arise so we can all learn from the process. The turning lineup will be:
Noel Wright: blank selection
Dan Lee: roughing
Fran DiTommaso & Lonnie Bott: outside
Jeff Amacher: hollowing
Steve Cook: bottom
The meeting will be held at 6pm on Thursday, September 28 at Case Woodturning Supply in Savannah.

We are sorry to announce that we will no longer be able to hold our monthly meetings and demos at Maven Makers. The owners of the building that holds Maven Makers have made some changes that make it no longer a viable option for our club. We are currently pursuing other options. Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming demos and their new locations.
