We are thrilled to have found a new teaching venue at Maven Makers on 415 West Boundary Street in Savannah! Our next two classes will feature Christmas ornaments on Thursday, November 12th and Thursday, December 3rd, both 6-9pm. Each class is $25 for Lowcountry Turners members and $35 for non-members. Lowcountry Turners will be hosting one of our own, Jeff Amacher, at this Thursday’s regular monthly LCT meeting from 6-8pm at The Guild Hall. Jeff will be demonstrating the art of turning a bowl—from log to finish. As always, the meeting is open to public.
Lowcountry Turners will be entering a collaborative project in the 2016 American Association of Woodturners Annual International Symposium, to be held June 9-12 in Atlanta. We’re looking for turners who’d like to be a part of the winning team! If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Roy Yarger. We would like to have our team assembled by the end of the year.

Interested in getting started in woodturning? We are holding Intro to Woodturning classes at The Guild Hall in Savannah. No experience is needed. We’ll provide all the materials and equipment you need. Bring a pair of safety goggles if you have them, or you can purchase them in the Guild Hall store. In addition, wear closed-toed shoes, tie back long hair and avoid loose clothing, jewelry, or any dangling ties, etc.
Classes are held the first and second Thursdays of the month from 6 to 9pm. The cost per project is typically $20 for Guild Hall members and $25 for non-members. Sign up is through the Guild Hall’s web site. Space is limited to five students. You must pre-register to reserve a space in the class.
