Our next demonstration meeting will be FRIDAY, January 26th, 6:00 p.m. at the White Bluff Campus of SAVANNAH TECHNICAL COLLEGE, 5717 White Bluff Road, Savannah 31405. Steve Cook will be demonstrating architectural turning, including basic spindle turning and candle sticks.
Roy Yarger and Lonnie Bott will be the featured demonstrators. Both have many years of experience turning both simple and complex projects. October’s demo will focus on simple, but very nicely executed, gift type items.
There will also be a raffle for a Nick Cook parting tool that was generously donated by Chace Holloway of Case Woodworking Supply.
The meeting will be held at 6pm on Thursday, October 26 at Case Woodturning Supply in Savannah. The meeting is free and open to the public.
This month’s meeting will follow a special format. Rather than having one demonstrator, we will have several members of differing ability working on turning one bowl. The goal is to solve common turning problems as they arise so we can all learn from the process. The turning lineup will be:
Noel Wright: blank selection
Dan Lee: roughing
Fran DiTommaso & Lonnie Bott: outside
Jeff Amacher: hollowing
Steve Cook: bottom
The meeting will be held at 6pm on Thursday, September 28 at Case Woodturning Supply in Savannah.
Beginning September 28, 2017, our meetings will be held at 6pm on the last Thursday of the month at Case Woodworking Supply, 1725 Grove Point Road, Savannah. As always, our meetings are free and open to the public.

This demo will be held at Case Woodwoorking Supply at 1725 Grove Point Road, Savannah. Start time it 6pm.
We are sorry to announce that we will no longer be able to hold our monthly meetings and demos at Maven Makers. The owners of the building that holds Maven Makers have made some changes that make it no longer a viable option for our club. We are currently pursuing other options. Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming demos and their new locations.
The member dues for 2017 are due no later than our March 2nd meeting. Dues have gone up $5 this year: $35 for AAW members, $40 for non-members, and $50 for a family membership. Please bring either cash or a check to the next meeting, or mail your payment to Roy Yarger at 22 Gresham Lane, Savannah, GA 31419.
Our monthly meeting has been postponed to Thursday, March 2 to accommodate the schedule of our featured demonstrator, Nick Agar. Nick is a widely sought after award-winning demonstrator with over 25 years of woodturning experience. Examples of his work can be seen here. As always, the member meeting will be held at 6pm at Maven Makers in Savannah, and is free and open to the public.
